Hyun Jin Jeong of Earth Dyeing, brings back the historic tradition of natural dye with her new clothing line.  Through her masters thesis work, Jeong collected 45 soils from various regions to create a range of soil based paints that can be applied directly to fabrics.   Her work has resulted in a series of textiles imprinted with geometric patterning and varying washes of color.

Jeong sees her efforts as only the beginning. “My vision of textile futures is the rediscovery of everyday materials from nature,” she says. “There are many different natural materials that were once used but are now forgotten. I think rediscovering these materials and using them wisely is essential for a sustainable future.”
